The Eltham Timber and Hardware business was purchased by Rob Deylen and family in October 1974. In those days there was only a small shop area. In summer, the yard was a dustbowl, in winter; a mudheap. There was no forklift and all cement was unloaded by hand. In 1995 the whole premises was revamped and renovated. This resulted in a much larger shop area and a large undercover timber yard. It was at this time that the business entered the ‘Home' group. Rob retired two years ago and at some stage all of his family have worked in the business. There has been a significant development from a small family concern to a large family business.
